Stuart Harling 歌手简介

Stuart Harling was awarded a Choral Scholarship to St John's College, Cambridge then studied at the London Opera Centre, winning the Sir Thomas Beecham Opera Scholarship in 1972. On joining Scottish Opera in 1973, he appeared in The Coronation of Poppea. He returned in 1976 for Tarquinius, in a production of The Rape of Lucretia which was taken on several foreign tours. He also sang the title role in Eugene Onegin with the company. With the English Opera Group he sang several roles in the 1973 world premiere tour of Britten's Death in Venice, appearing at Aldeburgh and the Edinburgh Festival. He also appeared as Moralès in the Edinburgh Festival Carmen production of 1977 and 1978. Both these productions were recorded. He sang with English Music Theatre in 1976, as Nardo in Mozart's La finta giardiniera, and the same year made his Covent Garden debut as Schaunard. Other appearances include Karnac in Le Roi d'Ys by Lalo at the Wexford Festival, and Count Almaviva with Welsh National. He was a founder member of (English National) Opera North, appearing in Les Mamelles de Tirésias, The Magic Flute, Marriage of Figaro, Peter Grimes and La Bohème.
